After almost 13 years headquartered in Chico, GRID Alternatives (GRID) North Valley regional affiliate office shifted all operations to our Sacramento location this year. As a way to commemorate the move and celebrate the tremendous growth in impact we have had serving communities from San Joaquin County to the Oregon border and east to the Nevada border, we hosted an Open House on August 8th to bring our Sacramento area community together and toast to the work we have ahead of us.

Pauline, a long-time Stockton resident, sat down with GRID to reflect on her experience with us, and her life one year after getting solar.

Patricia, a recent GRID client and lifelong Stocktonian committed to advocating for her community’s access to mental health and housing services, especially for unhoused and underserved communities, serves on the Stockton Mayor's Round Table on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) committee, as Commissioner of the Housing Authority of the County of San Joaquin, and is vice-chair of the city’s Behaviour Health Advisory Board.

Meet Brittney, a 2022-23 SolarCorps Construction Fellow, a graduate of our Installation Basics Training (IBT) program, and a current resident of Mirasol Village, where GRID Alternatives North Valley just installed a 137.9 kW solar photovoltaic system! We sat down with her to talk about her time in IBT, her transition into SolarCorps, and her experience living at Mirasol Village.

A Stockton resident for 55 years, Ms. Audrey is the definition of a community leader. Three times a week, she volunteers at the Northeast Community Center, and twice a week, she takes line dancing classes at Stribley Community Center. It’s this community spirit that eventually led to her partial re-roof and solar installation with GRID this summer at no cost to her.   

Three months ago, GRID installed a solar photovoltaic system for Anna, a resident of Berry Creek Rancheria, through our no-cost solar program Energy for All and a partnership with Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority.

Dariyn Choates, Sacramento State graduate, former GRID job trainee, and now entrepreneur started his own solar panel cleaning business after graduating from GRID's solar installation basics training program and working as a solar panel installer.
